Josef Grolmus Bodybuilding Champion Found Dead At Age Of 59

Sad news today tells that the bodybuilder champion Josef Grolmus found dead at the age of 59 years old.

This news has torn the bodybuilding community these days, one of the oldest and legendary bodybuilders who was loved by everybody.
The German veteran bodybuilder Josef has sadly passed away in a shocking way in just 59 years old. This is not the longest time in bodybuilding history, but it shows his love for this sport, but in this period he showed amazing performances in his shows.

He also competed in the famous event Mr. Olympia 2 times but unfortunately, he didn't win any one of them.

He placed 10th in his first shown in Mr. Olympia in 1986 and 15th in his second show in 1987. and we all know that if he can compete in the Olympia stage then he is one of the best bodybuilders in the world.

“In MEMORIAM: JOSEF GROLMUS

Is it with deep sadness that we must report the passing away of the former World Champion and Slovak Bodybuilding legend, Josef “Gigant” Grolmus; on July 13th, at the age of 59 y.o.

Involved in Bodybuilding since he was a teenager, Grolmus was competing from 1977 until 1990, with great international results as the IFBB World Title in 1985, at the Light-Heavyweight category and European Title in 1984 and 1990, in his last international participation.

During his almost 14 years of Bodybuilding career, Grolmus also competed as a professional athlete between 1986 and 1989, bein one of the most representative European athletes of that period and inspiring the new generations of Bodybuilding with his multiple appearances in magazines.

The IFBB joins his family and friends, in their sorrow and prayers.

Rest in peace.”



Despite that Grolmus never reach the top of bodybuilding, he was a well-known figure in his bodybuilding career he wins at the IFBB Amateur Championships wins then he gets his pro card but after that, he began to back in results.


He finishes his career when he back to the amateur level when he competes on his last contest placing in the first place at the 1990 European amateur championship.
